A Drug Story: Goodfella

A small time drug dealer trying to use crime to fund his way through college finds himself in dire straights after peddling a new product.

A Drug Story: Goodfella is the first film I ever produced. As such I learned more about the role and grew more comfortable in it as the film’s production unfurled. Planned and shot throughout my second semester at Emerson College, A Drug Story is a 22 minute film directed by Josue Velazquez.

My role as producer on this film was an admittedly chaotic and often poorly defined one. On some days I focused on scheduling and logistics but on others I found myself helping to plan shotlists or even subbing in as boom operator. Despite this - or rather because of it - I look back at my work on the film as an important formative experience.
